Happy New Year (almost)! As a wife, it is very exciting to prepare for the NEW YEAR! You get a chance to have a FRESH START and of course, set new goals! Many of us wives know, many of the goals we set may never happen; however, it is good to have something to strive for!

Before we move ahead, let us reflect on the past. 2008 has been an exciting year! In 2008, I became a wife, I started Being Wife and made tons of new WIFE friends!

Since I mentioned friends, I will be celebrating the end of 2008 and the arrival of 2009 with friends. Which gives this wife good reason to countdown ten favorite New Year beverages to share with your other wife friends!

3) Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail from the Hostess with the Mostess is just so darn cute and so very tasty! A favorite for all the wives at your party!

2) Champagne, Darling? a FROZEN fun New Year’s Eve drink and just the perfect kick to get you in the mood to celebrate!

1) Classic Champagne Cocktail from the Food Network (by far a wife favorite for all)!

TURKEY DAY TIP #9: Keeping the Kids Busy (and being the coolest wife in marriedville)!

As you prepare your perfect wife Turkey dinner, you may have to keep in mind little ones will be around! So what do you do to keep them busy? Coloring, movies, and lots of hands-on projects! Keeping the kids busy will for sure give you a few “best wife in town” bonus points!

kaboosecom-coloring-pagesTo keep your little guests busy at their tables, fill jars with crayons and print festive “Thanksgiving Coloring Sheets” to have at their table. Turkey Note Holder

To find FREE printable coloring sheets, visit www.kaboose.com. While at Kaboose browse the crafts section to find kid friendly craft projects such as a “Pinecone Turkey Figure” or the “Turkey Note Holder”. Both require minimal supplies and are very simple to make! Not to mention all your little cousins, nieces or nephews (and all the other wives) will think you are the coolest wife at Thanksgiving!

charlie-brown-thanksgivingAfter dinner and fun craft projects, all that turkey may make your small guests sleepy! Help out those tired eyes by having a fully stocked THANKSGIVING movie pile ready to go! Holiday favorites include a “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”, Disney’s “Pocahontas” and of course “Home Alone” to put you in the mood for the next big family get together!

TURKEY DAY Tip #3: If this is your first Thanksgiving gathering, then you may be feeling the pressure. It is a ton of work for any wife to prep-cook-serve an entire delicious meal for many many guests! Not to mention the extreme attention to detail, timing and organizing for all the other aspects of the event! So this wife is going to fess-up, cheating is okay…WHEN IT COMES TO HOLIDAY DESSERTS!

I have a dear friend that bakes for a living, not only does she bake, she bakes VERY WELL! So I went ahead and ordered not one, but TWO homemade Pumpkin Cheesecakes! If someone asks, I will share I purchased them (and give credit where credit is due)! They will be so good not one person will care they weren’t a “wife-original”!

perkins-peanut-butter-silkDon’t have a local small-business bakery you can support? Here are a few wife suggestions.

1) Perkins Restaurant and Bakery! Surprised, it is true! Although you always thought you could only enjoy their French Silk Pie while dining in, you can also pre-order to take home! Call and order now to assure you can get your wife-request filled! Their Peanut Butter Silk Pie is Wife-Heavenly! gourmet-apple

2) Amy’s Gourmet Apples! Amazing! You won’t need enough for every guest, these things are so delicious, everyone will want to share after one bite! Two of my favorites for a sweet wrap-up to turkey are Peanut Butter Pretzel and the Snickers Milk! Wife YUMMY!

Tip #2: Making the setting TURKEY festive!

Even if you are not the type of wife to go over-board on table settings and holiday decorations, there are simple little things you can do to add your own “wife” decorating touches! One of my favorites is PLACECARDS! Small, easy and personalized ways to make your Turkey-Day guests fell EXTRA “wife” special!

One place you can visit is Cecily Ink. Cecily Ink actually has placecard KITS you can purchase. These adorable little kits are super “wife” and time friendly. They include everything from the placecards to napkin rings and even wine glass rings. Or, if you are feeling like a crafty-wife, you could download these adorable Squirrel Table Favors/Placecards from Martha Stewart. What a fun placecard to use not only for children but also for adults.

Looking for a placecard with a more outdoor feel? Use natural elements such as pine cones, leaves or even fruit. Find your own special wife way to personalize these items!
