A Wife and a GOOD BOOK! January 28, 2009

Greeting wife fans…books are such wonderful wife things! They can change your mood, give you a break, inspire you and maybe even make you a better wife! This is the case with The One Year Women’s Friendship Devotional by Cheri Heath Fuller and Sandra P. Aldrich!

I picked this book up a while back on a trip to Barnes & Nobles. Browsing past the tables, the bright cheerful cover caught my eye and I picked it up and flipped through it. This wife gave it 5-Wife HIGH FIVES for many reasons, 1 it will give me something to read for the next year (on a daily basis), 2 it will teach me to be a better person and 3, I know my friendships with all my other wife friends will be stronger and more fulfilling.

Cleaning Tips from one wife to another are always great! Especially when you have a busy schedule (work, working out, laundry, cleaning, cooking, socializing, appointments, and on and on it goes)!

This wife trys to do a one day a week cleaning overhaul, which usually looks good for about 1.5 days and then the tornado of life goes through the house and anything and everything is everywhere!

A another wife passed on this handy little “SPEED CLEANING” tip booklet from REAL SIMPLE! It is so easy and it works!

In under 30 minutes, you can tidy up and keep your one dedicated day of hard cleaning looking good all week long!

Living Room (6 minutes daily): Pick-up crumbs and dust bunnies with a handheld vacuum, fluff cushions and fold throws after use, wipe tabletops and spot clean cabinets when you see fingerprints, straighten coffee-table books and magazines. Throw out newspapers and put away DVD’s or remotes!

Kitchen (5 minutes daily): Always start with the sink, wipe down after doing the dishes or loading the dishwasher, wipe down the stove top, wipe down the counters, sweep (swifer) or vacuum floor!

Bathroom (2 minutes daily): Wipe out the sink, wipe the toilet seat and rim, swoosh the toilet bowl with a brush, wipe the mirror and faucet, squeegee the shower door (if this applies, if no shower door, give your tub a good wipe down!

Bedroom (6.5 minutes daily): MAKE THE BED, fold or hang clothing and put away jewelry, straighten out the night table surface!

Still minutes to spare before you favorite TV show comes on, you need to meet your best wife friend for a beverage or before your guests arrive for dinner!

BRRRRRR….this wife is COLD!!!! January 15, 2009

For some wives, they will never to have experience what is like to scoop snow, to shovel sidewalks, to drive on icy roads or bundle up when it is cold outside!  Nor will they ever drive through their local coffee shop, roll down their window and have it freeze open once it is rolled down. This wife is playing no joke, on the way to the little wife job this morning the temp was a whopping -24 and the local weather team is hopeful we will reach a high  of -5 degrees!

So, what is a wife to do in these ridiculous frigid conditions? Why shop on the Internet of course in preparation for the BIG SUPERBOWL SUNDAY FOOTBALL PARTY!

A Good Date for the Hubby & Wife! January 10, 2009

The wife is so busy, and usually the husband is too.  A “Date Night” for us is ordering in pizza and paying our monthly bills (not very fun for the wife). Which usually reminds us that our little pile of money is still very little, big fancy dates are out of the question. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t have some date fun on a budget!

MOVIE NIGHT at Home: Who says staying at home and watching a flick can’t be a date night? You just have to add in your special wife touches! For less than $20 Bucks, it can fill like the real thing! Movie Rental $3.99, Lemonheads $1.95, Hot Tamales, $2.95, Popcorn (free, you know you have some in your cupboard), two Fountain Sodas $2.25! Dim the lights and let date night begin!

ART & CRAFT NIGHT: Okay, some hubbies may not think this is such a good date night, but if you make it couples, it might actually be fun! For less than $50, both you and your hubby can have some quality fun time, find your inner artist and take something home to remember it by. My favorite example is Color me Mine!

CHEAP SEATS: Take the hubby out for a sport filled night! Your local sporting events are usually more budget friendly than the real thing! For less than $45.00 you can catch a game, enjoy a cold beer and maybe buy one of those really large #1 foam fingers!

What ever you do, make it wife special! Show your hubby you love him and of course you love saving money
